Dan’s Take is an independent sports column & podcast that offers insight and opinions on stories from across the country. Founded in 2005, the site has been featured on a number of major websites including CNNSI, Fox Sports, AOL Sports, Deadspin and The Big Lead.

About the editor:
Dan McGowan is a 22 year-old college student living in Providence, RI. Originally from West Haven, CT, Dan grew up striking out and bricking many a layup while eating only chicken fingers, hamburgers and the occasional curly fry, which makes it only fitting that he would want to become a sports writer. Still hardly chubby, he hopes that a few more years on his diet might help him look more like your local sports columnist.

Defying all the stereotypes, Dan actually lives on his own and not in his parent’s basement, although his apartment is smaller than your typical attic. He moved to Providence to serve as an AmeriCorps VISTA at City Year and decided to stay in the city until he infiltrates the mafia, at which point he’d like to relocate to some foreign land, like Memphis.

In his spare time, Dan enjoys watching reruns of The West Wing and talking about LOST. His favorite book is Confessions of an Ivy League Bookie and his favorite musician is Lord Tariq, but he hates Peter Gunz.
